Good weekend friends!
Here’s sharing some #voiceofchina action as the competition concludes.
American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert and his ardent fan China’s Zhang Wei, contestant on the first instalment of the Voice of China 中国好声音 (approved by the central powers that be during a time of crackdown on low culture entertainment as it qualifies as an uplifting program) sounding a way in Sino-US harmony.
Based on a Dutch-based reality talent show that premiered this year on July 13 – the finer side of globalisation, convergence and interconnectedness demonstrating to a mass audience a great cultural exchange amidst all the divisive political rhetoric and agendas, domestically and against each other, in a time of leadership transition for both the world’s leading economies. If you have some time to spare, six minutes to spare – check out the video below! Song is sung in English and Lambert’s got a translator on-set too.
Incidentally, the full final was four hours long, and featured a whole host of other awards celebrating other achievements. The journey to the finals were judged by a dazzling array of judges, media panel, and voting public.
Here is Adam Lambert’s Sina Weibo account. To date he’s clocked up 172,000 fans two weeks into his Chinese presenting self on China’s massive social networks.
The other takeaway – the Chinese audience know how to have a good time too, to the great bridging properties of good American music.
